Mila's Story
“Seeing what my daughter has to go through is the most difficult challenge. I pray that she will be cured and never have to deal with cancer again,” said Mila’s Mom, Christina.
On August 23, 2018, Mila’s parents heard the phrase no one wants to hear: “your child has cancer.” Their 20-month-old baby girl was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a blood and bone marrow cancer that affects white blood cells. “I felt devastated and overwhelmed, but kids are so resilient. They don’t worry or feel sorry for themselves,” says Christina.
From the beginning, Mila’s doctor let the family know that fighting leukemia would be a marathon. Mila’s marathon lasted 26 months and 17 days and she finished chemo in November of 2020, having spent more than half of her young life fighting to live.
